  • Yesterday the building crew kept a-working.   There's now a floor on the 2nd story...and a few more walls!

    and

    see?  A new wall!!

With a double-crew of 9-10 men, they are really moving on getting this house together!  It's such a relief as well as extremely exciting to see these changes.   I spent a good bit of time up on the 2nd floor yesterday, day-dreaming, imagining, enjoying, and just being in amazement that this is really happening!!

We've been gradually having to make some decisions on this, that, and the other for the house.   What's nice is G (the chief of this project)  has been prodding us gradually to decide on things......so I've not been overwhelmed with having to decide everything all at once.   He's given us lots of time to look at options, think them over, ponder and sleep-on-it for a week or better on practically everything.   I feel that we can truly make good decisions on things when we've got more time to research and think about it, rather than having to make spontaneous choices that we might be less-than-happy with later.

For instance, our new front door.   We'd discussed what kind of look we'd prefer; G brought a few catalogs for us to look over, and we've had 3 weeks to make a final decision.   It didn't take me that long to find "the" door....however, it was in a section of the catalog that is a higher price than he'd directed us toward.  But that's okay with me...this door has the leaded glass pattern that I absolutely LOVE, so it's worth a bit more to get it.    So instead of him jumping on that decision and ordering the door immediately, he's given us a while longer to be sure.  Just this morning he asked me if we were sure about the door, as it's time to get it ordered.   It's so nice to have someone who understands how important this project is to us and realizes that we should do it right the first time instead of just slapping stuff together and having to "settle".
